Douglas S. Freeman High School is a public high school located in western Henrico County, Virginia.  It opened in September 1954 and has undergone several additions and renovations through the years.

Since it opened, it has been widely acclaimed for both its academic and athletic excellence.  It currently serves about 1600 students who make up one of the most diverse populations of any high school in the county.

In the 2008-09 school year a group of alumni and staff formed a committee to look into establishing a Douglas S. Freeman Athletic Hall of Fame to recognize the many outstanding athletes, coaches, and supporters that have been a part of the history of Rebel and now Maverick athletics.

The organization is a 501c(3) non-profit and any profits from the Hall’s activities are used to provide scholarships to current Douglas Freeman seniors. Through 2021 we have given $27,000 in scholarships. Your donations are tax deductible.

The inaugural class was inducted in the spring of 2009 at the Jepson Alumni Center at the University of Richmond.  The 2010 ceremony was held at the Dominion Club and the 2011 thru 2022 inductions were held at the Hilton Richmond Hotel and Spa in Short Pump.  The dinner has become like a reunion of all classes from 1954 to the present.

The 2024 Induction Banquet will again be held at the Hilton Richmond Hotel and Spa on Sunday, April 28, 2024, cash bar at 4 pm, dinner 5 pm, and induction at 6 pm. Go to the 2024 Ticket Order page to order your tickets.  Space is limited so please order early.

See the 2024 Induction Class and plan to be at the Banquet on April 28th!
